Civic Mutual Plus wanted to develop an online training package for public swimming pool operators. This package was to be delivered in the format of an engaging and interactive website that aims to highlight the risks associated with each area of a swimming pool complex and to provide checklists and a suite of resources to aid the management of these risks.

The training aid will be used in community swimming pools across Australia. Pool owners, management committees and staff will be encouraged to interact with a Flash-based “virtual aquatic facility” in order to explore and learn in a enjoyable and engaging manner. A fun animated general knowledge quiz allows users to test their learnings.

The website had to cater to the needs of a very diverse user base and ensure the delivery of key learning outcomes. Features of the site include:

• A website design that projects a motivational and approachable feel, delivering key learning messages and effective access to information to a broad audience.
• A flexible, centralised and easy to use Content Management System (CMS) so that admin can update key content assets.
• The creation of an Incident Report Form that takes users through a series of questions about the incident so that data can be collected.
• Reporting on the training package quiz results as a measurement indicator of the content’s success.
• A registration page for the website and the creation of members only content to ensure that data collected is viable.
• Delivering the website in a CD format so that it could be sent to members who did not have easy access to the internet.
